The 2023 Large Employers’ Health Care Strategy and Plan Design Survey conducted by Business Group on Health shows that cancer has overtaken musculoskeletal conditions as the top driver of large companies’ health care costs. The survey reveals employers have seen more late-stage cancers and anticipate increases in the future due to pandemic-related delays in care. Findings in the survey include concerns over health equity and the affordability of health care, long-term mental health issues, prescription drug costs, well-being initiatives, and how the integration of virtual and in-person care delivery is “key to success.” Additionally, the survey reveals that employers will continue to invest strategically in their health and well-being offerings to tackle these issues.
