Scientists from City of Hope, an AccessHope foundational partner, have cornered the culprit that helps cancer cells evade CAR T cell therapy.
CAR T cell therapy harnesses the immune system to seek out and kill tumor cells. This treatment is used in certain types of blood cancers, such as leukemia and lymphoma. Some cancer cells have learned how to evade the immune system to survive. The study published in the journal Cell could lead to more personalized therapies that improve cancer patients’ survival.
