Knowledge vs. Cancer
Fighting cancer with everything we know™
Welcome,
Announcing the Launch of the AccessHope Blog: Knowledge vs. Cancer
All of us at AccessHope are excited to announce the launch of our blog, where we deploy the latest evidence-based recommendations, research, knowledge, and insights.
Each month, we'll send one round-up email including topics like:
Why innovations in cancer treatments can equal better outcomes and lower overall employer costs
How to help employees with cancer get access to diagnostic expertise
What employers can do right now to address disparities in cancer care
A troubling gap exists between cancer treatment and cancer outcomes based on race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, and other characteristics.1 What have we most recently learned, and how can we imperatively close this gap?
While certain statistics may reflect progress—e.g., the cancer death rate
for African American individuals was 33% higher than for white individuals in 1990 but 16% higher in 2016—a huge discrepancy persists. The contributing factors to cancer are complex, such as genetics, a lack of medical research across diverse study subjects, and differences in access to care.1
During Nurses Month, we're highlighting the nurses who dedicate their time and energy to supporting AccessHope members on their cancer journeys. Angie joined our team because of the ways our visionary remote model brings subspecialty cancer expertise to community oncologists and their patients.
We believe that knowledge is power. Visit our blog regularly to stay up-to-date on the landscape of cancer care and how it affects employers. You can also reply directly to this email with any questions.
Sincerely,
Your friends at AccessHope
